Remixing Posts

article-header-img

Remixing lets you take inspiration from someone else's Kanvie content and create your own version quickly. It's perfect for customizing a recipe or workout to suit your tastes, needs, or personal style, all without starting from scratch.

What Remixing Does

When you remix a post on Kanvie (Recipe or Workout):

  • Ingredients and Products or Exercises are copied over
  • Number of servings for recipes is preserved from the original post
  • Steps are imported (only the templates and written descriptions; images are not copied)
  • You can edit, add, or remove any of these elements before posting your own version

Think of it as creating a personalized copy of a recipe or workout that you can modify freely.

How to Remix a Post

  1. Open a Recipe or Workout you like.
  2. Tap the Remix button.
  3. The Create Recipe or Create Workout screen opens automatically with all the original components pre-filled.
  4. Adjust anything you want:
    • Add or remove ingredients/products or exercises
    • Modify the default number of servings for recipes
    • Change step templates or descriptions
    • Add or remove steps
  5. Add your images, preview media, and title/description as you normally would.
  6. Post your new version to share with the Kanvie community.

A Note on Copyright

When remixing recipes and workouts you did not create yourself from another profile on Kanvie, it's important to understand what kinds of content are protected by copyright and why we handle some elements differently.

What is typically copyrighted?

Across most jurisdictions, recipe and workout authors own the rights to:

  • The written text of their instructions
  • The images and videos they publish
  • Any other creative or expressive wording

We do not import images or videos.

You'll choose your own photos for the preparation and training steps and your own preview when finalizing the post. Simply copying someone else's photos or videos without their permission is not okay.

We do import the preparation / training steps and their texts.

We do this because:

  • Many users need a complete starting point
  • It helps people save time and keep recipes or workouts for personal use

However, if you plan to publish the recipe publicly, you should always:

  • Rewrite the instructions in your own language and using your own phrasing
  • Add your own insights, tips, or structure
  • Ensure it represents your creation, not a copy of someone else's work

This isn't just about following the law, it's about respecting the work of your fellow Kanvie community members, who invest time into developing those instructions.
