Scanning Barcodes
Kanvie includes a free built-in barcode scanner that lets you quickly look up products without needing to search manually. This makes tracking ingredients, checking nutrition information, or reviewing product details faster and more convenient.
How to Scan a Barcode
- Tap Search 🔎 in the main navigation
- Select Scan code 📸
- Point your camera at the product's barcode and hold still for a moment.
- The product page will open automatically if the barcode is recognized.
If a Barcode Isn't Recognized
If Kanvie can't identify a barcode:
- Ensure the barcode is clean and not damaged
- Try searching for the product's name. The product may exist on Kanvie, but is not mapped to the scanned barcode
- If you cannot find the product using it's name, it may not exist on Kanvie. If you want to add it to your diary anyways, you can do so by creating a custom diary entry
More scanning capabilities may be added over time as the Kanvie product database expands.
Tips for Best Results
- Keep the barcode centered in the frame
- Hold your device steady
- Avoid reflections or glare on shiny packaging
