Tracking Your Muscle Load With Muscle Points

article-header-img

Muscle Points are how Kanvie translates your strength training into something you can see, understand, and compare over time. Instead of guessing which muscles you trained or how hard you pushed them, Muscle Points give you a clear picture of your actual muscle load, right where you log and review your exercises and workouts.

Where You See Muscle Points

Your Diary 📖 is the main place where Muscle Points come together.

At the top of the diary, you’ll find a Muscle Points widget that shows:

  • Total Muscle Points for the day
  • Muscle Points summed up per muscle group (e.g. Chest, Back, Legs)
  • Muscle Points per individual muscle (e.g. Quads, Hamstrings, Biceps)

This makes it easy to spot patterns, like consistently overloading your shoulders or under-training your legs, without digging into individual sets.

Seeing Muscle Load While Logging an Exercise

When you open any strength training exercise, Kanvie shows you, as you enter:

  • Weight
  • Repetitions
  • Number of sets

You'll see a live preview of:

  • Muscle Points per muscle group
  • Muscle Points per individual muscle

This preview answers questions like:

  • “How much chest work does this bench press add?”
  • “Are my triceps getting enough load from this session?”
  • “What happens if I increase the weight or reps?”

Because the preview updates with your input, you can adjust your training before you even log the diary entry.

Which Exercises Support Muscle Points?

Muscle Points are only available for strength training exercises.

That's intentional:

  • Strength exercises apply direct mechanical load to muscles
  • Muscle contribution can be reliably estimated per exercise
  • Endurance or cardio activities, like running or cycling, are tracked differently (time, intensity, calories)

Calculating Your Muscle Points

If you're curious about what goes on behind the scenes and how your logged sets, reps, and weights are turned into meaningful muscle load, you can dive deeper into the logic and assumptions behind the system.
